I sometimes sleep with the light and radio on for company. My brother as a grown man falls asleep anywhere without warning. It could be having a conversation, at the dinner table, brushing his teeth, sitting at a red light. He leaves the world for a bit.
He is exclusionary and exotic. I feel afraid of him and for him, even more. I understand in the wake of reality, the comfort of being with another, not belonging in ideal ways, but belonging by proximity.
