Torn Wing: An Elegy To Childhood
The aspiration is to be normal, not poor, not with loneliness, nor fear of difference.
I retraced my childhood by seeing others like myself visibly torn as children from their purity of purpose and gifts of promise.
I witnessed innocence sullied at the hands and mind of a father who had no capacity for love or protection of his child and a mother rendered helpless.
I raised up out of my dead self from the uncaring cement and moved on from the wounded memory that imprisoned me.
