I stood motionless as a statue on a street corner. Time passed, the WALK light changed again and again, people on their way somewhere walked around and disappeared.
It was lovely spring weather but I had broken down like a stalled car on the West Side Highway. Moving seemed silly, a pretense of judgment or setting a false priority.
Standing here is just as meaningful as rushing to Zabar's to shop for dinner, or taking a run in the park for my fitness.
A statue has great advantages of vision, clear thinking, and being a determined figure of authority by just keeping still.
When a purposeful thought appears, I will be on my way.
